Learn. Grow. Love the Game.

Little Miami Instructional Basketball is the perfect first step into organized basketball. Designed specifically for 2nd-grade players, the program introduces young athletes to the fundamentals of the game in an encouraging environment where learning, participation, and fun come first.

Games & Competition

What Players Learn

At this age, we're building the foundation. Coaches introduce skills and concepts including:

  • Dribbling and ball control

  • Passing and catching

  • Shooting fundamentals

  • Footwork and movement

  • Basic offensive and defensive concepts

  • Spacing and movement on the court

  • Teamwork and sportsmanship

  • Understanding basic basketball rules

Just as important, we want players to learn how to listen to a coach, encourage their teammates, respond to mistakes, and have fun competing.

What to Expect

Instructional basketball combines practices with real game experience so players can begin applying what they're learning. Families can generally expect:

  • Two practices per week and one game each weekend

  • Home and away games against other CPYBL communities

  • A regular winter basketball season

  • Age-appropriate instruction focused on development and participation

Specific schedules and practice times depend on team assignments, gym availability, and the CPYBL schedule.
